D01
Last updated:
D01 (marketed in the Sharpa Dexa line) is a tactile humanoid from Sharpa, unveiled at IROS 2026 in Pittsburgh on September 29, 2026 alongside the W02 dexterous hand and AE01 data glove. It combines two Sharpa Wave dexterous hands, 7-DoF arms with human-scale spherical wrists and a four-layer whole-body tactile E-skin (0.2 N force resolution, 100 Hz sampling) on a height-adjustable torso (1,109–1,624 mm tall) that weighs about 40 kg without its chassis. With 66 degrees of freedom including hands, a 5 kg rated payload per arm (about a 1:1 arm payload-to-weight ratio), end-effector speeds above 10.5 m/s, ±0.2 mm repeatability and an NVIDIA Jetson Thor main processor, it is built for fast, precise and contact-rich work. It ships with a native teleoperation system and is available by quote.
Quick Overview & Key Facts

Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about this robot
Q1. What is D01, and what problem is it designed to solve?
D01 is a tactile humanoid robot from Sharpa that pairs human-like dexterous hands with skin that can feel touch across its whole body. It is designed to take over fast, precise, contact-rich work that people do with their hands.
Q2. What are the main capabilities and key features of D01?
It has two dexterous hands, human-like arms and wrists, a height-adjustable torso and a full-body electronic skin. It is strong for its weight, very fast and precise, and it can be run autonomously by Sharpa AI or controlled through teleoperation.
Q3. Who is D01 built for, and which industries can benefit from it?
It is aimed at food service and restaurants, light manufacturing, retail and hospitality, and at research labs and robotics companies that need a dexterous, touch-sensitive platform.
Q4. Is D01 a commercial product or still a research prototype?
It is a commercial product. Sharpa unveiled it as one of its flagship products and takes orders through a quote request.
Q5. Is D01 currently available for purchase, and when is it expected to ship?
Yes, by quote. Buyers request pricing and delivery details from Sharpa through the D01 page.
Q6. How does D01 actually work in real-world environments?
Sharpa's AI plans each task, turns it into arm and hand motions and uses touch feedback to close the final contact with objects. Its skin senses bumps and contact anywhere on the body, helping it work safely around people and handle delicate items.
Q7. When was D01 announced or officially launched?
Sharpa introduced D01 at the IROS robotics conference at the end of September 2026.
Q8. How is D01 different from other robots in the same category?
Most humanoids sense touch only at the fingertips or not at all. D01 feels contact across its whole body and pairs it with highly dexterous hands and tactile-aware AI.
Q9. Does D01 require additional development or customization after purchase?
Typical deployments involve teaching it the specific tasks of each site, which Sharpa supports with teleoperation, a data glove and developer tools.
Q10. What is the future roadmap or planned upgrades for D01?
Sharpa plans to keep improving its tactile AI and dexterous hands and to roll D01 into more real-world service and manufacturing work.
