Adam SP is the dexterous-hand version of PNDbotics' full-size bipedal humanoid Adam, built by PNDbotics in Beijing for researchers and developers. It stands 1.67 m tall and weighs 62 kg, with 41 degrees of freedom: six in each leg, three in the waist and thirteen in each arm and hand, which includes six dexterous finger joints per hand. The body runs on PNDbotics' own PSA quasi-direct-drive actuators with peak torques of about 340 N·m at the hip and knee, about 46 N·m at the ankle and about 60 N·m at the arm, and a biomimetic hip design that gives it human-like motion. A NUC12 computer handles motion control with a whole-body control and model predictive control balance algorithm, while a Jetson Orin NX 16GB with 100 TOPS runs AI perception and decisions and an Intel RealSense D455 depth camera maps the scene. Adam SP walks at up to 1.5 m/s and runs on a 1172 Wh battery, and it connects by Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. PNDbotics supplies an open-source SDK, a reinforcement-learning environment built on Isaac Gym, teleoperation with VR devices, URDF and MJCF models and a wiki, so labs can use it for locomotion, manipulation and embodied-AI research and for industrial, medical-assistance and service pilots.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about this robot

Q1. What is Adam SP, and what problem is it designed to solve?

Adam SP is the dexterous-hand model of PNDbotics' full-size walking humanoid Adam. It is a research and development platform for people who want a human-sized robot with working hands.

Q2. What are the main capabilities and key features of Adam SP?

It walks on two legs with human-like hip motion, has arms with six-finger-joint dexterous hands, balances with whole-body control, sees with a depth camera and runs AI models on an onboard computer.

Q3. Who is Adam SP built for, and which industries can benefit from it?

It is built for university labs, robotics companies and developers working on locomotion, manipulation and embodied AI, and for pilot projects in industry, medical assistance and services.

Q4. Is Adam SP a commercial product or still a research prototype?

It is a commercial research platform from PNDbotics, which also sells simpler Adam versions and the actuators used in them.

Q5. Is Adam SP currently available for purchase, and when is it expected to ship?

PNDbotics sells it to institutions and developers and quotes prices on request, and retail partners list it, so delivery is agreed with the seller.

Q6. How does Adam SP actually work in real-world environments?

A fast motion controller keeps the body balanced, the AI computer handles vision and decisions, and developers can teach it new skills in simulation, by reinforcement learning or by VR teleoperation.

Q7. When was Adam SP announced or officially launched?

PNDbotics presented its Adam humanoids at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in July 2025.

Q8. How is Adam SP different from other robots in the same category?

It is the version with full dexterous hands and the largest number of joints in the standard Adam line, built from PNDbotics' own modular actuators.

Q9. Does Adam SP require additional development or customization after purchase?

Yes. Developers normally use the open SDK, simulation models and wiki to adapt it to their research or application.

Q10. What is the future roadmap or planned upgrades for Adam SP?

PNDbotics keeps expanding the Adam family and its actuator range and is moving the platform from prototype toward mass production.
