ElliQ

ElliQ

Last updated:

ElliQ is an AI companion robot for older adults, made by Intuition Robotics in Tel Aviv. It sits on a table or shelf and has two parts: a lamp-like head and body that turns, tilts and glows to show it is listening, and a separate touchscreen that shows photos, video calls, games and reminders. ElliQ starts conversations on its own, reminds its owner about medication and appointments, suggests gentle exercise, tracks health and pain goals, and helps them stay in touch with family and caregivers by sharing photos, messages and video calls. Its cameras are used to sense when someone is nearby, to make calls and to take selfies, not to record. First shown at CES in January 2017, ElliQ went on sale in the United States on March 15, 2022 as a subscription service, and ElliQ 3 (January 2024) added deeper generative-AI conversation. It needs only power and Wi-Fi, speaks English, is sold only in the US and is not a medical device. Programs with the New York State Office for the Aging have placed more than 800 units with older adults at risk of isolation.
