Qinglong V3.0 is the 2025 generation of Qinglong (青龙, "Azure Dragon"), the full-size open-source humanoid from Humanoid Robot (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and the National-Local Joint Humanoid Robot Innovation Center in Shanghai's Zhangjiang Robot Valley. The original Qinglong debuted at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in July 2024 as China's first full-size general-purpose humanoid, and V3.0 returned to the 2025 conference with upgraded integrated joints and a "time-space computing backpack" that combines 5G, BeiDou positioning and Ascend compute for outdoor and mixed indoor-outdoor work such as security patrol and inspection in industrial and logistics parks. It stands about 185 cm tall and weighs about 85 kg, with 60 degrees of freedom in a modular body that mixes walking, manipulation and perception modules, five-finger dexterous hands and a head that integrates vision, hearing, touch, smell and motion sensing. Joints are linked by an EtherCAT bus and controlled by up to 400 TOPS of compute. Qinglong is the reference machine of the OpenLoong community, so its hardware drawings, whole-body dynamics control package, skill-scheduling framework, training tools and real-robot datasets are published openly, and the Gewu Zhizhi platform lets large AI models and the robot train together to speed up task development. Teleoperation with VR and motion-capture suits is used to collect demonstration data.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about this robot

Q1. What is Qinglong V3.0, and what problem is it designed to solve?

Qinglong V3.0 is the 2025 version of Qinglong, a full-size walking humanoid from the National-Local Joint Humanoid Robot Innovation Center in Shanghai. Its designs and software are shared openly so others can build on it.

Q2. What are the main capabilities and key features of Qinglong V3.0?

It walks on two legs, has two arms with five-finger hands, a modular body, a head that senses sight, sound, touch and smell, whole-body balance control, and a backpack that adds 5G, satellite positioning and extra computing for outdoor work.

Q3. Who is Qinglong V3.0 built for, and which industries can benefit from it?

It is built for universities, research labs and companies developing embodied AI, and for patrol and inspection pilots in industrial and logistics parks.

Q4. Is Qinglong V3.0 a commercial product or still a research prototype?

It is a research and development platform and the reference robot of the OpenLoong community, with commercial pilots in security and inspection.

Q5. Is Qinglong V3.0 currently available for purchase, and when is it expected to ship?

Its hardware drawings and software are free to use, and complete robots are arranged directly with the Innovation Center rather than through a regular retail channel.

Q6. How does Qinglong V3.0 actually work in real-world environments?

Whole-body dynamics control keeps it balanced while it walks and uses its arms, and training tools and real-robot data let developers teach it new skills in simulation first and then on the real machine.

Q7. When was Qinglong V3.0 announced or officially launched?

The first Qinglong appeared at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in July 2024, and V3.0 followed in 2025.

Q8. How is Qinglong V3.0 different from other robots in the same category?

It stands out because the whole design is open source, from the drawings and control code to the datasets, and because it comes in a family of larger and smaller models.

Q9. Does Qinglong V3.0 require additional development or customization after purchase?

Yes. Developers normally adapt the open hardware and software to their own project, and the community provides documentation and tools.

Q10. What is the future roadmap or planned upgrades for Qinglong V3.0?

The Innovation Center plans a new humanoid model every year and keeps expanding the Qinglong family and the OpenLoong platform.
