Detailed Analysis

Cruzr S2

Cruzr S2

Design & Build Quality

Cruzr S2 and Walker Tienkung are both UBTECH humanoids of similar height, one on wheels and one on legs. Cruzr S2 stands 176 cm with 44 degrees of freedom, 22 of them in its two 11-joint hands, and a waist that rotates ±170°, bends from +90° to -35° and lifts 40 cm to reach from the floor to 1.8 m. Walker Tienkung is a 172 cm, 73 kg biped with up to 42 degrees of freedom, including configurable 7-DoF arms. Cruzr S2 puts its engineering into hands and reach; Tienkung puts it into walking.

Walker Tienkung

Mobility & Navigation

Cruzr S2 rolls at 2 m/s, turns around in a 0.8 m passage and steers with stereo vision plus radars at the front and rear of its base. Walker Tienkung moves at up to 7 km/h, about 1.9 m/s, and is built to handle stairs, slopes and uneven ground. Their top speeds are nearly identical. Cruzr S2 suits flat commercial floors, while Tienkung can go where wheels cannot.

Cruzr S2

Cruzr S2

Sensors & Perception

Cruzr S2 uses two fisheye and two RGB cameras with RGB-D cameras in its chest and base, adds radars at the front and rear of its base, and has six-axis force sensors in its wrists and tactile arrays in its hands. Walker Tienkung combines RGB and stereo cameras with LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, an IMU and force sensors. Cruzr S2's tactile hands give it the finer sense of touch for handling parts. Tienkung's LiDAR gives researchers direct distance data for mapping.

AI Capabilities

Cruzr S2's work is planned by UBTECH's Co-Agent, billed by UBTECH as the first industrial agent for humanoid robots, and it holds conversations through a large language model. Walker Tienkung supports both autonomous and semi-autonomous operation, which gives research teams room to test their own control methods. Cruzr S2 arrives ready for enterprise tasks and conversation. Tienkung is a test bed for teams building their own AI.

Cruzr S2

Battery & Power Efficiency

Walker Tienkung runs for more than 3.5 hours, swaps quickly between two batteries and recharges in 2 hours. Cruzr S2's battery capacity and runtime are unpublished; UBTECH says only that it charges through a fast-charging port in its base. Tienkung's battery swap keeps a lab running with little downtime. Cruzr S2's runtime under your own workload is a question to put to UBTECH.

Software Ecosystem

Cruzr S2's software is UBTECH's Co-Agent industrial agent with learning-based motion control, and it connects over Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3.0. Walker Tienkung supports ROS 2, Python and C++ alongside UBTECH's own software. Tienkung is the better choice for developers who want to write their own code. Cruzr S2 is built for businesses that want working behaviour out of the box.

Pricing & Value

Cruzr S2 costs around $80,000, which falls inside Walker Tienkung's $65,000 to $115,000 range. The two are close in price, so the choice rests on the job rather than the budget. Cruzr S2 offers dexterous hands carrying 15 kg across both arms, while Tienkung's arms are rated for light loads of about 1.5 kg. For practical handling Cruzr S2 is better value; for open research Tienkung is.

Safety Features

Cruzr S2's safety features are an emergency stop button, front and rear base radars and force sensing in its wrists. Walker Tienkung offers force limiting, collision detection, an emergency stop and a collaborative mode for working near people. Both are designed to share space with humans. Cruzr S2's wheeled base also avoids the fall risk that any walking robot carries.
