Neo1

Last updated:

Neo1 is a 4-meter-class heavy-duty hydraulic humanoid robot from NeodraDynamics, a Beijing company founded in 2024 by Tsinghua-background experts. It was unveiled on October 14, 2026 at the China International Industry Fair (CIIF) together with JD Industrial. Instead of electric motors alone, Neo1 uses a hydraulic-electric hybrid drive: 39 of its 41 active joints are driven by miniature digital hydraulic linear actuators, each weighing about 1 kg yet producing ton-level thrust, and two forearm rotational joints are electric. NeodraDynamics says the robot weighs about 1.2 tons, carries 500 kg across both arms and positions its hands to within ±0.005 mm. The company's 7-DOF heavy-duty arm reaches 1.7 m and lifts 300 kg on a single arm, and its 15-DOF hand grips with more than 500 kgf. NeodraDynamics says the hydraulic modules tolerate nuclear radiation, temperatures from -50 to 250°C and 10,000 m of deep-sea pressure. Neo1 is aimed at heavy assembly, port handling, nuclear fuel transfer and maintenance, subsea work, mining and disaster-site clearance. These are company claims that have not been independently verified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about this robot

Q1. What is Neo1, and what problem is it designed to solve?

Neo1 is a giant humanoid robot from NeodraDynamics, a Beijing company. It is built to do heavy, dangerous and difficult jobs that are too much for ordinary electric humanoids.

Q2. What are the main capabilities and key features of Neo1?

It uses hydraulic power combined with electric control for very strong arms, a powerful dexterous hand and fine positioning. It is designed to lift heavy parts, handle bulk loads and work in harsh conditions.

Q3. Who is Neo1 built for, and which industries can benefit from it?

It is aimed at heavy industry, ports, nuclear energy, deep-sea engineering, mining and disaster response, where people face high risk.

Q4. Is Neo1 a commercial product or still a research prototype?

It was unveiled as a flagship showcase product at an industry fair in 2026. NeodraDynamics has not described it as a mass-produced product yet.

Q5. Is Neo1 currently available for purchase, and when is it expected to ship?

NeodraDynamics has not announced pricing or a shipping date. It is working with JD Industrial to test real industrial uses through pilot projects.

Q6. How does Neo1 actually work in real-world environments?

Small digital hydraulic actuators move almost every joint, which gives it far more strength than electric motors of the same size, while electric drives add precision where it is needed.

Q7. When was Neo1 announced or officially launched?

NeodraDynamics and JD Industrial unveiled it at the China International Industry Fair in October 2026.

Q8. How is Neo1 different from other robots in the same category?

Most humanoids rely entirely on electric motors and stay in labs or light service work. Neo1 uses hydraulics so it can handle much heavier loads and tougher environments.

Q9. Does Neo1 require additional development or customization after purchase?

NeodraDynamics has not published how the robot is controlled or deployed. Pilot projects with JD Industrial are meant to work that out for real industrial sites.

Q10. What is the future roadmap or planned upgrades for Neo1?

NeodraDynamics says it wants to expand heavy-duty robots across industry, rescue, deep-sea and space work, and to supply key hydraulic components to other robot makers.
