ROBAN2

ROBAN2

Last updated:

ROBAN2 (ROBAN 2, Chinese name Luban No. 2) is a medium-size bipedal humanoid from Leju Robotics built as a teaching, research and development platform for embodied AI. Leju teased it in July 2025, and from April 2026 it has been built on Shenzhen's first humanoid pilot production line, which assembles a unit in about two hours. It comes in four versions: the Agile edition (23 DoF, five-finger hands, RK3588 compute) and Advanced editions A (23 DoF), B (25 DoF with two-finger grippers) and C (45 DoF with five-finger dexterous hands), which add lidar, a depth camera, autonomous navigation and an NVIDIA Orin NX module with 117 TOPS. It has a fall-resistant structure, a model-based plus reinforcement-learning control architecture compatible with OpenAI Gym and Stable Baselines3, simulation support in Isaac Gym and MuJoCo, hot-swap battery changes while standing, a gamepad, large-language-model Q&A, and graphical and Python programming.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about this robot

Q1. What is ROBAN2, and what problem is it designed to solve?

ROBAN2 is a medium-size walking humanoid from Leju Robotics designed as a teaching and research platform. It gives schools, universities and labs a ready-to-use robot for learning and developing embodied AI.

Q2. What are the main capabilities and key features of ROBAN2?

It walks, balances, turns at the waist and handles light objects, and the advanced editions add lidar, a depth camera, autonomous navigation and much more computing power. It supports gamepad control, graphical programming, Python and large-model voice Q&A.

Q3. Who is ROBAN2 built for, and which industries can benefit from it?

It is aimed at universities, vocational schools, research labs, robotics competitions and exhibitions.

Q4. Is ROBAN2 a commercial product or still a research prototype?

It is a commercial product, sold in several editions and built on a dedicated production line.

Q5. Is ROBAN2 currently available for purchase, and when is it expected to ship?

Yes. Leju sells ROBAN2 in an Agile edition and several Advanced editions, with pricing on request.

Q6. How does ROBAN2 actually work in real-world environments?

Students and researchers program it with graphical tools or Python, test algorithms in simulators first, and then run them on the robot. Its batteries can be swapped while it stands, so classes and demos are not interrupted.

Q7. When was ROBAN2 announced or officially launched?

Leju teased ROBAN2 in mid-2025 and started building it on a new Shenzhen production line in spring 2026.

Q8. How is ROBAN2 different from other robots in the same category?

It is smaller and more affordable than full-size humanoids, has a fall-resistant body, and comes with open-source tools, simulation support and course materials made for teaching.

Q9. Does ROBAN2 require additional development or customization after purchase?

It works out of the box for teaching, and users can add their own programs, models and behaviors through its open SDK.

Q10. What is the future roadmap or planned upgrades for ROBAN2?

Leju continues to expand ROBAN2 course resources, tools and editions as demand for embodied-AI education grows.
