FF Nova
Last updated:
FF Nova is a mini bipedal humanoid robot from Faraday Future, built as an affordable embodied-AI platform for developers, universities and schools. FF calls it America's first true embodied-AI humanoid under $2,500. Faraday Future and FF EAI Robotics (Nasdaq: FFR) launched it on October 14–15, 2026 at $2,490, with an optional $390 Developer Skills Package. Nova stands 49.7 cm tall, weighs 2.8 kg and has 20 degrees of freedom (2 in the head, 6 in the arms and 12 in the legs), so it can be carried with one hand. It can walk on two legs at 0.1 m/s or ride a detachable wheeled base at 0.8 m/s for autonomous navigation. A top-mounted 2D LiDAR, an approximately 4 MP wide-angle camera, a 3D time-of-flight sensor and a three-microphone ring array feed 10 TOPS of on-device compute with 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. A large voice AI model gives it conversation and voiceprint recognition, and open AI-agent integration lets cloud agents act through its body. Developers get an open SDK, a ROS 2 workflow, over-the-air updates, a Sim2Real reinforcement-learning pipeline built on NVIDIA Isaac, and a Skills Store. The first phase is limited to 100 invited developers and institutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
Get answers to common questions about this robot
Q1. What is FF Nova, and what problem is it designed to solve?
FF Nova is a small walking humanoid robot from Faraday Future. It brings a real embodied-AI development platform, normally locked inside expensive research robots, to developers, students and schools at a consumer price.
Q2. What are the main capabilities and key features of FF Nova?
It walks on two legs or rides a detachable wheeled base, sees its surroundings with LiDAR, a camera and a depth sensor, recognizes who is speaking, chats through a large voice AI model, and runs AI models directly on the robot.
Q3. Who is FF Nova built for, and which industries can benefit from it?
It is built for AI and robotics developers, university labs, teachers running STEM classes and clubs, and technology enthusiasts who want a humanoid they can program.
Q4. Is FF Nova a commercial product or still a research prototype?
It is a commercial product, launched in October 2026 and rolling out in phases, starting with an invitation-only developer edition.
Q5. Is FF Nova currently available for purchase, and when is it expected to ship?
Yes, in stages. Phase One is open by invitation to developers and educational institutions through the FF developer platform, a second phase opens to all developers and schools, and a full consumer launch follows.
Q6. How does FF Nova actually work in real-world environments?
Its onboard computer builds a map from LiDAR and camera data, understands speech, and plans its own movements. On two legs it focuses on interaction, and on its wheeled base it navigates rooms on its own.
Q7. When was FF Nova announced or officially launched?
Faraday Future and FF EAI Robotics launched it at a joint product event in October 2026.
Q8. How is FF Nova different from other robots in the same category?
Most robots at this price are toys without real AI training tools. Nova offers reinforcement learning, an open SDK, ROS 2, AI-agent support and a skills store, the same workflow larger research humanoids use, in a robot you can carry with one hand.
Q9. Does FF Nova require additional development or customization after purchase?
It works out of the box for voice interaction and demos. Developers then train new skills in simulation with NVIDIA Isaac and the Nova learning platform and deploy them to the robot, or download skills others have shared.
Q10. What is the future roadmap or planned upgrades for FF Nova?
FF plans wider availability for developers and schools, a full consumer launch, regular over-the-air updates and a growing library of community skills.
